David Robert Jones was vorn in Brixton, London on 8 January 1947. He lived with his parents until he was 18. During a fight over a girl, Bowies friend George Underwood punched him in the eye. Doctors could not fully repair the damage, leaving his pupil permanently dilated. The pair remained good friends & Underwood went on to do artwork for Bowies early albums. At the age of 17, David Jones was interviewed on BBC televisions Tonight programme as the founder of The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Long-haired Men.
